How to Install & Play Nintendo Switch Games
Nintendo Switch games come in NSP (Digital package), XCI (Game cartridge dump), or NSZ (Compressed NSP) formats. You can play them on PC / Steam Deck using emulators or install them directly onto a hacked Switch console running Atmosphere custom firmware.
1. Playing on PC / Steam Deck (Emulation)
What You Need
- Switch Emulator (e.g. Ryujinx / Eden / Suyu / Yuzu)
- prod.keys & title.keys (Encryption keys matching the required firmware version)
- Switch System Firmware (e.g. Firmware 18.0.0+ for newer games)
- Game File (
.nsp,.xci, or.nsz)
Step 1: Install Keys
- Launch your emulator.
- Open the keys directory (
File → Open Keys Folderor~/.config/ryujinx/system/). - Copy
prod.keysandtitle.keysinto the folder. - Restart the emulator.
Step 2: Install Firmware
- In the emulator menu:
Tools → Install Firmware → Install firmware from XCI or ZIP. - Select your downloaded firmware
.zipfile. - Confirm installation.
Step 3: Add Game Directory & Install Game Updates / DLC
- Add your games folder in emulator settings.
- To install Game Updates or DLC:
- Right-click the game in your library → Manage Title Updates / Manage DLC.
- Click Add and select the
.nsp/.nszupdate file. - Click Save.
2. Installing Games on a Hacked Switch Console (Atmosphere CFW)
If you have a modded Nintendo Switch running Atmosphere CFW:

- AIO Switch Updater / Tinfoil: Alternative network & USB installers.
Step-by-Step with DBI (MTP Mode via USB)
- Connect your Switch to your PC via a USB-C cable.
- Launch DBI on your Switch from the Homebrew menu.
- Select Run MTP responder.
- On your PC, open File Explorer and navigate to the newly mounted Switch device.
- Open the NAND Install or SD Card Install folder.
- Drag and drop your
.nsp,.xci, or.nszfiles into the folder window. - DBI will stream and install the game directly onto your Switch storage in real-time.
- Once complete, press
Xon your Switch to exit MTP mode and launch the game from the Switch home menu!
